The Off Duty Edit: Where Medicine Meets Style
By Nilah Ahimsadasan
If you’ve ever felt like your professional identity was at odds with your personal style, you’re in the right place. I’m Nilah Ahimsadasan, and I created Off Duty Edit to bridge the gap between the white coat and the wardrobe.
Being in medicine requires precision, discipline, and long hours. But when the shift ends and the pager goes quiet, there is a different kind of ritual: reclaiming my identity through fashion, wellness, and curated living.
What You Can Expect from This Space
To reach our goal of building a community of 10,000 like-minded women, this blog will focus on three core “Edits”:
- The Fashion Edit: We’re moving past “fast fashion” and focusing on the Off Duty uniform. Think elevated basics, capsule wardrobes for busy professionals, and how to transition from a 12-hour hospital shift to a dinner date without looking like you’ve been on your feet all day.
- The Medicine Edit: A transparent look at life in the medical field. I’ll share my journey, productivity hacks for high-stress environments, and the science of wellness. This isn’t just about clinical medicine; it’s about how to thrive as a woman in a demanding field.
- The Lifestyle Edit: From the best espresso spots to travel guides for the time-poor, this is where we discuss the “life” part of work-life balance. Expect curated recommendations for skincare that survives a double shift and books that have nothing to do with anatomy.
“The Off Duty Edit is about the beauty found in the moments between the ‘must-dos.’ It’s about being as intentional with your aesthetic as you are with your career.”

I’m so glad you’re here for the beginning of this journey. My goal is to provide you with a weekly dose of inspiration that makes your “off duty” hours feel just as purposeful as your “on duty” ones.
