About Nilah & The Off Duty Edit

The White Coat. The Wardrobe. The Work-Life Edit.

Hi, I’m Nilah Ahimsadasan.

I am currently a 4th-year medical student at Queen’s University, navigating the final, fast-paced stretch of medical school in Kingston. Between clinical rotations, studying for boards, and preparing for residency, I realized something essential: my passion for medicine and my love for a curated, stylish life don’t have to exist in silos.

I created Off Duty Edit as a digital sanctuary for the modern woman who is unapologetically ambitious. This is a space where high-stakes medicine meets high-quality lifestyle.

The Mission

In the medical world, we are often taught to blend in—to let the white coat define us. But I believe that when we feel our best, we perform our best. Off Duty Edit is about the transition. It’s about how we decompress, how we dress for the lives we lead outside the hospital, and how we maintain a sense of self in a demanding profession.

What You’ll Find Here

To help you navigate your own “edits,” I’ve broken this blog down into three distinct pillars:

  • Medicine: Behind-the-scenes of life at Queen’s Med, residency application tips, and productivity strategies for the high-achiever.
  • Fashion: “Scrub-to-Street” transitions, building a professional capsule wardrobe, and the latest 2026 trends for the off-duty professional.
  • Lifestyle: My favorite Kingston coffee haunts, travel guides for the busy student, and wellness rituals that actually survive a 24-hour shift.

Whether you are a fellow med student, a working professional, or someone who just loves a clean, minimalist aesthetic, I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s make the “Off Duty” hours count just as much as the “On Duty” ones.
